World Bank energy investments no help for the poor

The massive investments by the World Bank i fossil energy does not contribute to acheiving the Bank’s key objective to help eradicate poverty, concludes the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation (SSNC) in a report published in April. SSNC argues that the World Bank must focus on investments that increase the access by poor people to essential energy services, and on cost-effective and renewable energy solutions. The report (available in Swedish only) was written by Göran Eklöf.
